Mecsel Watchdog

The introduction of Watchdog has enabled Mecsel Oy to supply programmable devices for a very varied market. Our clientele often have unique requirements in regards to their desired functionalities. Fairly large deliveries progress through the planning, programming and testing stages, out onto the field and for production use. Often, pilot installations precede full-scale production use. A majority of the appliances which are supplied by Mecsel Oy are for demanding self-service use, whilst at the same time, they utilise a great many different application programs.

Mecsel Oy has long had a need to ensure smooth operations through the aid of a “so-called” watch dog. This "watchdog" procedure has already been used in Mecsel Smart devices, virtually or programmatically. During actual power cuts, the watchdog provides an increasingly robust operational tool. After market research, Mecsel Oy created their own device production process to attain equipment, which was more advantageous and appropriate for requirements.

The Mecsel WD-100 product has already been introduced in the field. Series production equipment will be completed in spring 2011. The Watchdog product will be introduced for public sale in the future and it will also be available, as a separate device.

Information on the device is available through the link below, in pdf format:

Mobile vending payments in Sweden

Using a mobile phone, you can now also purchase goods from vending machines located on the platforms of underground railway stations in Sweden.

The vending machine mobile phone system, supplied by Mecsel Oy, was taken into use in Sweden in early May 2010.
The extensive delivery includes the possibility of purchase operations by mobile phone, along with real-time monitoring of the status.

The vending machines which are used are kiosk vending machines with glass doors. The product range consists of foodstuffs, such as beverages, snack products and sweets. The vending machines are located in public places, mainly in such transportation hubs as underground railway and normal train station platforms, in addition to airports.

The deliveries were preceded by a pilot installation during the autumn of 2009. Feedback received from the clientele stated. "The system has worked better than predicted and the sales have developed more than we had expected."

The delivery was technically somewhat different when compared with before. A Mecsel® Smart connection device is situated inside the vending machine with a constant IP connection with the payment server.

Rather than making a phone call, the customer sends an SMS text message to the device. The customer also uses the text message to send information on the amount to be used in the purchase. When required, one text message can be used to buy several products at the one time.

The clients adopted the new method freely and sales operations began briskly from the very first day.

Mecsel Oy expects the market in Sweden to develop rapidly this year. The brave and successful investment into the busiest commercial sites has now also attracted the attention of the field’s operators in Sweden.
